Dr. Shaoxiang Sheng obtained his Ph.D. in 2018 from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP, CAS). He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Stuttgart and the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Germany, during which he was awarded the Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. His main research focuses on integrating ultrafast laser techniques with scanning probe microscopy and exploring ultrafast electron and phonon dynamics at the atomic scale in quantum materials. He has developed advanced systems such as Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (TERS), Terahertz Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (THz-STM), and Tip-Enhanced Nonlinear Four-wave Mixing Spectroscopy (FWM). His work on the dynamic characterization of low-dimensional quantum materials has resulted in several important contributions to the field. To date, he has published 29 papers in journals including Nature Physics, Nature Communications, and Physical Review Letters, with over 2,000 citations on Google Scholar.
