The Tsientang Materials Laboratory was established in May 2024 with the mission of bridging the "Valley of Death" in technology commercialization. It aims to build an enterprise-led theoretical and practical system for the deep integration of industry, universities, and research institutions, continuing the advancement of nationally supported vertical research outcomes. By providing critical resources—including capital, space, talent, and market access—it comprehensively empowers scientist-led entrepreneurial teams and seeks to establish a domestically influential headquarters for scientists’ entrepreneurship.
With an investment of RMB 1 billion and a construction period of 3–5 years, Phase I of Tsientang Materials Laboratory aims to introduce 5–10 technology commercialization projects each year. It leverages scientific and technological innovation to drive the development of new-quality productive forces. Driven by a headquarters-led economic model, the Laboratory catalyzes the formation of industrial clusters and builds a high-standard engineering innovation center that integrates the functions of research, incubation, and investment.
The industrial park covers an area of 292 mu (approximately 195,000 square meters) with a total construction area of about 500,000 square meters and is designed by Jaspers-Eyers Architects, a renowned Belgian architectural firm.
Phase 1 of the Tsientang Materials Laboratory (already completed) has a construction area of about 135,000 square meters, a floor height of 7 meters, a load-bearing capacity of 1.5 tons, and a floor area ratio of 1.91.
We identify and engage nationally supported vertical research teams, delivering high-value industrialization enablement through "the Tsientang Innovation Model" to mitigate early-stage investment risks.
