Professor Xuelei Guo is the former Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Museum, a Rank-2 Research Fellow, an ancient ceramics scholar, and a curator. He was the first expert in China to obtain qualifications for the exit-entry authentication of cultural relics in three categories: ceramics, jade ware, and miscellaneous bronze relics. He also serves as a council member of the Chinese Ancient Ceramics Society, a member of the Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Authentication Committee, President of the Shenzhen Traditional Culture Research Association, Honorary President of the Shenzhen Museum Association, and a part-time master’s supervisor at Fudan University, Jinan University, Jingdezhen Ceramic University, among others. He is an expert receiving a special allowance from the Shenzhen Municipal Government.
His work focuses primarily on museum management, exhibition curation, and research on ancient ceramics. Emphasizing originality and academic rigor in exhibitions, he has presided over several important exhibitions and academic conferences, such as those on "Guan Jun" (Numbered Jun ware), Jizhou kiln, polychrome overglaze decorated ceramics, 15th-century court porcelain, Shanxi ceramics, and Canton enamels. His research covers fields including Jun kiln, Ru kiln, Jizhou kiln, Cizhou kiln, Yaozhou kiln, Hong Kong’s Tai Po Wun Yiu kiln, polychrome overglaze enamels, Shanxi ceramics, blue-and-white porcelain from the Yuan and Ming dynasties, Canton porcelain, Canton enamels, as well as ceramic technology and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. He has achieved multiple groundbreaking research outcomes in these areas.
